These tuna rolls fill soft hot dog buns with a savoury tinned-fish mixture cooked with onion, tomato and githeyo chilli. They are an easy choice for tea time or a party plate.

Ingredients

  • 12 long buns (hot dog buns)

  • 1 onion (finely chopped)

  • 1 tomato (very finely chopped)

  • 1 teaspoon githeyo chilli (finely chopped)

  • 1 tin of fish (oil drained)

  • 2 capsicums (deseeded and chopped small)

  • 1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/3 teaspoon Ajinomoto

  • Tomato sauce, enough to give colour

  • A little oil

  • A little salt

Method

  1. Put a pan on the stove and add a little oil.

  2. When the oil is hot, add the onion, capsicum and chilli.

  3. When they soften slightly, add all the remaining ingredients except the buns.

  4. When the fish mixture is cooked, split each bun down the middle without cutting it all the way through.

  5. Fill the fish mixture along the length of each bun.
