The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed three new members to the boards of directors of state-owned companies, it announced on Tuesday, 20 October.

According to the PCB's notices, the appointments are:

  • Maldives Post Limited: Mohamed Areesh, of M. Ahuliha, Malé

  • State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation Limited: Ismail Faruhad Ahmed, of Penzeemaage, GDh. Thinadhoo

  • State Trading Organisation Public Limited: Ahmed Imdah Mohamed, of G. Maalhika, Malé

The PCB appoints and removes the directors of companies in which the government holds shares. It did not say how long the new members will serve.

Areesh is a former member of Malé City Council.

The appointments follow changes at Fenaka Corporation last week. On 15 October, the PCB appointed Dr Ali Azuvar as Fenaka's executive director and acting managing director, and Ibrahim Nizam to its board.
