Pulse Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of Avaani Maldives, a new resort in North Malé Atoll, in an announcement made on 10 October. The company says the resort is about 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. It describes the property as eco-friendly and markets it under the concept "The Island of Becoming", with an emphasis on Maldivian culture, traditions and local food. According to Pulse Hotels and Resorts, the resort has four categories of accommodation. Its restaurants and bars are named Soul Kitchen, Beach Shack and Sip & Dip, and guests can choose meal plans including Full Board Plus and all-inclusive packages. The company says the resort has a PADI five-star dive centre run by Euro-Divers, with access to more than 30 dive sites, and a spa called Eskape Spa offering traditional Maldivian treatments. It also offers private dinners and ceremonies such as wedding vow renewals with traditional Bodu Beru performances. The announcement did not give the number of rooms, room rates, staff numbers or the name of the island the resort is on.
