A motorcyclist allegedly riding against the flow of traffic in a crash in Hulhumalé that left four people seriously injured had been released from police custody days after a court ordered him held for 15 days in a separate fraud case, Atoll Times reported. The collision happened at about 2:55am on Wednesday, October 7, on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumalé Phase II. A motorcycle carrying three people, which was travelling against the designated traffic direction, struck another motorcycle. Four people were seriously injured. Some local media have named the rider as Ahmed Uwais. Police have not confirmed his identity. The Criminal Court had earlier ordered the rider detained for 15 days in connection with a separate fraud investigation. Police released him from custody only a few days after that order was issued.
